Isaiah started us on our missional journey. I was tired and worried just like the ruling elders, about what we were going to do with our future back in 2015. When we read this scripture it was like God took off our burdens.
We were hungry for God’s bread. We were thirsty for God’s water. Finally our answer to all our worry was provided by God’s Word. Isaiah was speaking to people who had been taken from their land, the Holy land, and lived apart from the land for several generations. He said listen to God and live.
How much more was God speaking to us in the 21st century? This pierced our hearts like a direct message. We just had to stop, listen and be fed by the Lord. God’s Word would be our guide, and God’s Spirit would be our authority.
Our listening to God brought us to Calvary Lutheran Church. Today’s signs that this is God’s will are all around us. We were blessed by their pastor. Rev. Lori Cornell, in prayer and by her congregation who layed their hands upon us.
Last week we shared a root beer float fellowship with Calvary prior to worship. For the first time we were ministered to as we gathered for ministry under God. See how much God loves you! Do you remember what we did after our first worship at Calvary? Yes, we applauded without prompting because we felt the love of the Lord.
I believe God is feeding us as we get our bearings and wait for the Lord to tell us what’s next. God is leading our ruling elders and deacons to take the next bold moves toward mission. Our task is prayer. You must be in constant prayer for our church and its leaders to follow the Lord in all things.
Pray for me, your ruling elders and deacons to listen to God and do nothing without consulting the Lord. Pray that we will pray, study scripture, listen to you and listen to our community of Federal Way. I know you have been praying because of the momentum we’ve experienced in this ministry. Thank you, and keep upholding this ministry in your prayers.
