The last vestige of summer looms ahead in the form of Labor Day weekend. Where did the summer go? Already we hold two services of worship on three campuses and we wonder where will God take us next?
Last week the management of one of our campuses called, asking if the pastor could come for an emergency pastoral call. We are seeing the fruit of becoming a missional church. The mission we launched over one year ago has taken us to the community in ways we’ve never been before.
All this is not without its costs. Disorientation occurs when you don’t have a permanent place of worship. We will appear before the Calvary Lutheran management team next week and secure a longer term contract. Watch this space for more news. In the meantime we have been assured our place is here with them and that a new contract will be approved.
We are also looking for new places and our new site task force will bring a report at the Town Hall, September 17. Now we can only imagine where we will go. There will also be news about our staffing changes in the church office and how moving brings costs and benefits to our life together.
Transitional churches like ours usually experience a lull in their growth and program activity. We, however, have only experienced awe! Yesterday we welcomed a new member into our fellowship at the Foundation House campus. Toward the end of that service another person made an appointment with me to seek membership with our church as well.
Our budget situation has totally changed from that of a deficit budget to one of surplus. Thank you for supporting our ministry! And we have even more exciting news for you in October!
Our God continues to shatter old expectations. We are waking up in God’s light and it is bright! I know this is a challenging journey. Thank you for your trust. It is time to put on the armor of light. Prepare yourselves for a deeper spiritual faith in our church and a deepening reach into the community.
