Everett Gee and James Harrell entered the Church Triumphant. They were giants in our community and we will miss them.
The calendar seems to speed up no matter how much I try to
keep it from turning. Children get older, I get older and the latest
trends make me cringe…shoulder fitted rain shields for bicycles?
Yep they make them but no, I’m not a buyer.
What makes me shudder even more this month is that Ash Wednesday is
Valentine’s Day. We will have joint services with Calvary Lutheran at 12 and 7 p.m. that day and I look forward to that. Our opportunity to be truly Presbyterian in our ecumenical outlook with other Christian communities needs to be celebrated while we are at Calvary.
We will celebrate within our community for the rest of Lent, Holy Week and Easter. My hope is that it will be without too much change of worship hours and venues. I appreciate everyone’s patience while we continue to pursue a site in Federal Way.
The legacy of Everett and Jim will continue so long as we seek to love each other, the stranger and the Lord who gathers us. May your coming in and going out be blest by God.
